Edward River Village – Site Works & Infrastructure Delivery

Greenfield village development delivered for Edward River Council, from permits and site establishment through to underground services and structural foundations.

In8 (formerly Curry Project Management) led the early works and underground infrastructure for the Edward River Village development. Building on our history as Curry Project Management, our role covered site establishment, excavation, installation of sewer, water and stormwater systems, and coordination of concrete footings and structural elements – all in accordance with Edward River Council requirements and Australian Standards.

Project Overview

Before rebranding to In8, Curry Project Management was responsible for overseeing site works, excavation, sewerage and plumbing installation for the Edward River Village project. The scope included management of preliminary stages, procurement of contractors and suppliers, and coordination of early civil works to support construction of the new village. In8 now continues this capability, applying the same disciplined approach to village, subdivision and infrastructure projects.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Preliminaries and procurement: Handling site establishment; submission of Project Management Plans; securing permits, insurances and contractual documentation; and managing procurement of materials and contractors to ensure resources were available when needed.
  • Site preparation and excavation: Managing site clearing, stripping and stockpiling topsoil, excavation for footings and services, and implementing erosion and sediment controls and site security.
  • Underground services and foundations: Overseeing installation of sewerage, stormwater and water supply systems and supervising placement of concrete footings, slabs and structural elements in accordance with design and relevant standards.

Specific Responsibilities Under the Contract

The project management team was responsible for:

  • Submitting a program of works, coordinating site establishment and ensuring all Project Management Plans, permits and insurances were approved before commencement. This included addressing authority fees and verifying underground service locations.
  • Managing the procurement process so materials such as concrete, pipes, pits and plumbing components were sourced in a timely manner, avoiding delays to excavation and installation activities.
  • Clearing building areas, stripping and stockpiling topsoil for later reuse, and implementing erosion control measures in line with Edward River Council guidelines. A secure perimeter fence was established to manage public safety and protect the works.
  • Excavating for footings, piers and service trenches according to working drawings, including provisional footing depths and service alignments.
  • Excavating and installing water, sewer and stormwater systems with appropriate cover, grades and drainage points, and coordinating inspections and testing.
  • Implementing a Traffic Management Plan and vehicle wash-down station so adjoining roads remained clear of mud and debris.

Procurement, Delivery & Site Management

Through a structured tendering process, In8 (then operating as Curry Project Management) selected qualified contractors and suppliers to deliver the works safely and efficiently. Logistics were planned so that materials arrived on-site in line with the excavation and slab program, minimising downtime.

Site management involved directing contractor activities, monitoring daily progress, enforcing WHS and environmental requirements and coordinating inspections. This comprehensive approach kept the project on schedule and ensured consistent quality across all stages of the early works.

Submissions & Compliance

Compliance was managed through preparation and submission of Project Management Plans, permits and insurance documents to relevant authorities. In8 ensured that construction activities adhered to local government requirements, Australian standards and environmental guidelines, with regular checks and documented inspections to demonstrate compliance.

Contractor Coordination

The project management team ensured that contractors:

  • Complied with Australian Standards for plumbing and drainage systems (including AS 3500, AS 1172 and AS/NZS 1260) across all sewer, stormwater and water installations.
  • Managed site clean-up by removing excess materials and waste, leaving building platforms level and free of debris for follow-on trades.
  • Completed testing and certification of sewerage, water and stormwater systems, with all inspections, fees and approvals processed through the relevant authorities.

As-Built Construction Data

In8 ensured accurate as-built records were captured for all phases of the early works, including:

  • Documentation of excavation depths, footing locations and service alignments.
  • Records of sewerage, water and stormwater installations, including inspection and test reports.
  • Electronic compilation and submission of as-built information to Edward River Council for contract compliance and long-term asset management.

Outcomes

By managing preliminaries, procurement, site works, excavation and installation of underground services, In8 (previously Curry Project Management) delivered a fully serviced and compliant platform for the Edward River Village development. The works met all safety, environmental and construction standards and provided a robust foundation for the subsequent building stages of this important community project.
